Meet Brett Banther – Schumacher Homes 2016 Ride Shotgun Winner

The Banther Family

Brett, Audrey and Heather Banther (L to R)

Sundays mean NASCAR for the Banther family.  It’s a time when the whole clan gathers to watch the big names race round the track. When Brett Banther received the call as the winner of this year’s Ride Shotgun with Dale Jr. Contest, well, he felt like it was a gift from one special family member.

“NASCAR’s a big thing for our family,” says Brett Banther. “We used to watch it with Dad before he passed away. We still watch it on the weekends. It brings our family together. That’s why it was so special to win. It was like dad’s looking down on us.”

Banther, an engineer and professor at Western Carolina University, will bring his wife Heather to Charlotte with him for the festivities. As an engineer, Banther is especially excited for the behind the scenes tour of the technical aspects of NASCAR. Banther says he entered the contest on a whim as the couple were making plans for their new home. The Banthers are in the process of signing the purchase agreement for a Baldwin II A.

“We haven’t broken ground,” says Banther. “We’re doing the site evaluation now. Things are definitely becoming more real and exciting!”

We wish the Banthers many wonderful years of family (and NASCAR) togetherness in the great room of their Baldwin II A!

Subway Tile – Classic and Contemporary

Schumacher Homes Charleston A Owners' Retreat Bathroom (Akron, Ohio Model Home)

Subway tile makes for a sleek and shiny backsplash for the Jack and Jill sinks in our Schumacher Homes of Akron Charleston A Model Home.

It’s been over 100 years since this classic decorative accent made its debut in the New York City Subway System, and its popularity has only grown – becoming a true American classic look.

Use different colored grout for a grid-like effect to your subway tile.

Subway tile offers an excellent choice because it’s both beautiful and functional. You can go colored or classic white, then achieve an artistic pop with a contrasting grout.

Use marbled or textured subway tile for a dressier look.

Your Serenity Has A Home: The Earnhardt Collection Hummingbird

The Earnhardt Collection Hummingbird

The Earnhardt Collection  Hummingbird by Schumacher Homes

Anyone remember the Seinfeld episode in which Frank Costanza screams “Serenity Now!” as a means of lowering his blood pressure? That phrase became one of the most memorable from the show because in the rat race of all of our lives, we can all use a little, “Serenity Now!”

And perhaps no family knows more about life in the fast lane than the Earnhardts, and that’s where the inspiration for the Earnhardt Collection™ Hummingbird by Schumacher Homes was born.

“Like everybody, we keep a crazy busy schedule, and with all we have going on with the kids’ schedule, and our schedule, and family and friends, it feels like we’re just flying 90 to nothing all the time, like a hummingbird,” says René. “For us, our home is our retreat. It’s the one place we can relax and regroup and just be together. For us, Hummingbird was a reminder that no matter how fast we’re flying, there’s always something ‘sweet’ about coming home.”

The Hummingbird floorplan was one of the first designs built when we launched the Earnhardt Collectionin 2011. The Tinsley family that built in SC, gave René and Kerry at tour of their custom Hummingbird, which they built as a retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle of fast pace life and relax with family friends.

Step through the front door of Hummingbird, and you will know you are home. The openness of the kitchen, great room and dining room are magnified by the spectacular two-story cathedral ceiling that makes the home feel enormous. Downstairs, you’ll enjoy a private owners’ retreat with a beautiful bath and two huge closets that are completely separated from the other two bedrooms upstairs. But you’ll still feel connected thanks to a spacious upstairs loft that looks down on the great room and dining room. You’ll also enjoy a roomy front porch—complete with your very own hummingbird feeder.
